Get Intentional

Well, it’s here. The new school year is upon us. Whether we like it or not. Summer days are fleeting and school supplies line the aisles at our local Target.

I loved new school years as we raised our children. I love new starts. It’s a great time to re-evaluate and get intentional.

Your children are part of Generation Z. (Makes me wonder what letter will come next??? Anyone???) Recent data shows that Generation Z is the “most non-Christian generation in modern US history.”

So what to do? I say GET INTENTIONAL. Your home is the classroom. The scriptures remind us of that…

“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.” Deuteronomy 6:4-7

Talk about God in your homes. Spend time in daily/weekly scripture reading and devotionals. Partner with your local church. Know what they offer children and what your family can tap into. Get involved. Have the hard conversations. Spend time together growing in relationship so that the baton of faith will successfully be passed on.

We don’t want to raise children who are more concerned about being politically correct than biblically correct. It starts in our homes. Raise the bar! Get intentional! Have a great year!!!
