Family Time 4: Creation

Pray and Share: What is the prettiest scene in nature that you have ever seen personally or in a picture? Why?

In your family’s search for truth, consider who or what endorses God. Nature can be so breath-taking that it moves you emotionally. It almost seems to speak to you. The psalmist, David, actually describes nature’s ability to speak to us. And he says that “the heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard” (Psalm 19:1–3 NLT). Nature speaks and proclaims God to you and me. It can be so powerful or beautiful that you know God is there. Nature is so moving or compelling that it is evidence of God’s existence. If for any reason you question the accuracy of God and His truth, consider who speaks for God. Creation speaks for God and gives testimony of His existence. When you stop and think about it, the message that nature sends is powerful.

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Romans 1:20 NLT

Scripture shares that the earth and sky have given clear testimony of who God is. Through creation, people do understand that God is God and that He has super-natural or divine abilities. And as a super-natural or divine Creator, His scripture contains truth. This passage in Romans goes on to explain that sadly some people who reject God know that they are exchanging truth for a lie, which means they actually do recognize that God is THE source of truth. God really is the best source of truth for His creation.

Wrap it up: Creation acts as a witness that God, the Creator, exists. It is so elaborate, organized, complicated and detailed that it is obvious nature has always been and always will be held together by an Intelligent Designer. Since God is the Creator, it makes sense that He will want the best for His creation. You can trust that God will tell you the truth.

What amazing part of nature helps you know that God is there and the Creator who made everything?

Closing Prayer: Pray for God to help you see how nature proclaims God.
