BBQ Sloppy Joes - Deana Young

After making the 3rd meal of the day, I sit at the dinner table exhausted from the many hats I’ve balanced. Looking at me are two innocent little faces, my girls, London(5) and Madison (19 months).

They have no idea about Coronavirus Pandemic and they don’t care.  All they know is that mommy made some food and they want to eat it, NOW. They want to enjoy all that was prepared and set before them. Wow, what trust and comfort they have in my presence, at our dinner table!

Looking at these two beautiful, bright eyed girls sit at the dinner table with not a care in the world, remined me of the security and trust I can have in the Lord. Sure, it’s pretty easy to look at the stock market, the bare grocery aisle, the death totals climb, the increasing isolation in our country and grow fearful for the future but, I am reminded of God’s response to Israel as they experience a fearful time. He told them in Isaiah 41, “Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” He reminded them of his commitment to them.

Unlike the uncertainty of the times the people of God could be fearless because of their relationship with him. We too can find comfort knowing that God is with us, He will strengthen us and help us, and He will uphold us with His righteous hand. Instead of focusing on the uncertainties of today, let us focus on our security in God. I would encourage you set aside time to meditate on Isaiah 41 and ask God to open your heart to what He is doing in your life right now.
