Post by Fellow Sydney Pell
This year is one for the books, a year I can’t wait to look back on and tell stories of “2020”. I imagine these stories taking place next to a campfire with a flashlight under someone’s face for dramatic effect. If you were to take my year and write out all of its events on a piece of paper, it really can seem scary story-esque.
When I look at what this year is, while sitting at home in quarantine number I-lost-count, it is hard for me to not see the incredible ways the Lord has shown up for me throughout this year, especially through my four months in the fellowship. One sentence I have clung to is: God is not surprised by anything. He knew that Sydney Pell will fail again and again but that did not stop Him from sending his son to atone and be the propitiation for my sins. He knew that I am selfish, prideful, and sometimes a little too sarcastic but God still loves me, God still provides and protects me.
One way he has provided for me is through the 12 other people I spend almost every second with. I have never been in such constant and close community of believers who help me grow more and more like Jesus everyday. It’s not easy, no, however these months have been some of the most refining and rewarding.
1 John 1:7 “but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin”
Don’t be afraid to reach out and chat. I would love to tell you even more things I am learning through my time at Sky Ranch.
