Ute Trail
1329 State Highway 149, Powderhorn, CO 81243
Please note that when driving south on State Highway 149, you will pass through Powderhorn, CO, and continue to mile marker 83. Some online mapping systems may not provide accurate directions.
If you are flying into Colorado, the closest airport options are:
- Montrose Regional Airport (1 hr 30 min)
- Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (1 hr)
- Colorado Springs Airport (4 hrs)
-
Denver International Airport (5 hrs)
Horn Creek
6758 County Road 130, Westcliffe, CO 81252
Horn Creek is located just off Highway 69, and signage along the way will help guide you to camp.
From Highway 69, turn onto CR 140, then turn left onto Macey Lane (CR 129). Next, turn right onto CR 130 and follow it all the way to camp. Please note that we do not recommend turning directly onto CR 130 from Highway 69, as that section of the road is unpaved.
If you are flying into Colorado, we recommend arriving at Colorado Springs Airport, which is approximately two hours away.
Sample Schedule

Night Events
Each night, we’ll have a themed event with plenty of fun and excitement! Some families go all out with costumes, while others keep it simple. You know your family best, so do what feels right for you.
Flannel Fest (Meadows: Monday - Lodge: Tuesday)
Step into a lumberjack festival full of flannel, food, and fun! Families will compete in a variety of games and challenges to see who has the ultimate lumberjack skills. Come dressed in your best lumberjack gear—think flannel, suspenders, overalls, boots, and buffalo plaid.
Western Night (Meadows: Tuesday - Lodge: Monday)
Join us at the arena for Western Night! The evening kicks off with a delicious BBQ and western-themed games, followed by a knee-slapping melodrama performed by our staff. Then it’s time to hit the dance floor for classic country tunes the whole family can boot-scoot to. Grab your cowboy hats, boots, and denim—it’s going to be a “yee-haw” kind of night! Click here for line-dance tutorials from our Family Ministries team!
Kid's Night (Meadows: Wednesday - Lodge: Thursday)
KIDS ONLY night event! We will enjoy an evening full of games, snacks, and fun—no parents allowed! Meanwhile, parents can enjoy a picnic dinner or head into town. Some gather in groups, others make it a date night—either way, enjoy your evening while we take care of the kids.
Coffee House (Meadows: Thursday - Lodge: Wednesday)
Join us for a one-of-a-kind, world-class evening of entertainment—brought to you by… well, you! Whether you're a seasoned performer or ready to debut that comedy routine you've been practicing on your dog, this is your moment. From music and poetry to magic tricks and yo-yo mastery, we’ll laugh, cheer, and maybe even ask, “Wait… how’d they do that?” All while enjoying a cozy cup of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. Come dressed in your favorite coffee shop outfit and ready to encourage your friends!
Campfire (Friday)
After Family Blessing, we’ll gather around the campfire to close out an incredible week of Family Camp. Together, we’ll reflect on all the Lord has done in our families and in our hearts, worship through song, and share meaningful moments from the week.

Whether you're up for a friendly game, sharing stories, or just relaxing, this is the perfect way to wind down your day at camp.
Nuke 'Em & Family Blessing Night
Friday night is a very special evening to end an extraordinary week. We will have our traditional Nuke Em'tournament, then join together for a time of worship and Family Blessing. This night concludes with a campfire and a special time of sharing what God has done.

Climate and Weather
WEATHER
With over 300 days of sunshine, expect warm days (70s–80s) and cool nights (40s–30s), especially at higher elevations. Be sure to pack a warm jacket or sweater. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer, so avoid ridges and open areas during storms. If hiking, start early and plan to be off the mountain before storms develop.
OUTDOORS
The sun is more intense at higher elevations, so wear sunscreen, a hat, and eye protection. Insects are common, so bring and use repellent. For your safety, do not drink from rivers, lakes, or streams.
ALTITUDE
Elevations above 7,000 feet can cause headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, or nausea. Stay hydrated, take it easy your first day or two, and carry a water bottle throughout the day. If you have a heart or lung condition, consult your doctor before traveling.

Off-Camp Adventure Day
During your week at camp, your family will have the opportunity to spend a day off-camp together. There are many fun activities in the surrounding area, so we encourage you to plan an outing in advance and make reservations if needed. Off-camp day is encouraged but optional—you are always welcome to stay on camp.
Schedule
- Horn Creek Lodge: Wednesday
- Horn Creek Meadows: Thursday
- Ute Trail: Thursday

Ranch Bank
While you’re at camp, there are several spots where your family can purchase souvenirs and snacks. To make things simple and convenient, each family member will receive a wristband upon arrival. If you prefer that your children not make purchases, please do not give them a wristband.
Each time you visit the store, your wristband will be scanned to create a running tab for your family. After your stay, this tab will be processed and charged to the credit card on file. Please make sure your card information is up to date before arriving at camp.
All charges are viewable through your Sky Ranch Online Account.
