Colorado: Overnight Camp

Though our Quest Colorado, Sigma Junior and Sigma Senior campers are ultimately destined for Colorful Colorado, all will arrive at our Van, TX location. Many campers choose to show their Sky Ranch spirit by decorating their car for the trip and arrival to camp. Window paint and streamers are some of our favorites! You can include your camper name, program or just let everyone know you’re heading to your favorite summer place! We cannot wait to see you!
The gates will open promptly at the times designated below for each program. If you have multiple campers attending, you are welcome to arrive at the earliest time. For safety and scheduling purposes, there will be no one to assist you or care for campers before the start time. Please do not arrive early. If you cannot arrive during these times, please share that information with us in your online account.
- 3:00-4:00: Sky 1, Sky 2, Sky 3, Young Riders,** and Sky Fillies**
- 4:00-5:00: Sky 4, Morph, Quest, Quest Colorado, Sigma Junior, Sigma Senior
**If you are bringing a horse, Sky Ranch Staff will be at the arena beginning at 2:00 PM to assist you. Once you have your horse settled, you will proceed to check-in on camp.
When you arrive, you will be directed to parking, where our staff will load your luggage and you can hop on a trailer headed to camper check-in. You will check your camper in and turn in your waivers/physical form. For the safety of all campers, lice check and health questionnaire will be completed on all campers according to our policy. Remember, you will need your driver’s license to check your camper in, so keep it with you.
After checking in at Van, they will depart for Colorado as detailed below.**
- Quest Colorado – Frontier check-in. Campers will have dinner on camp, attend the Opening Show, spend Monday on camp and depart Monday evening for Horn Creek.
- Sigma Junior – Activity Center check-in. Campers will have dinner on camp, and depart Sunday evening for Horn Creek.
- Sigma Senior – Activity Center check-in. Campers will have dinner on camp, and depart Sunday evening for Ute Trail.
**Campers will travel by charter bus. They will need to bring their own snacks for the trip and about $20 cash a for a meal on the way up and on the way back.
Track the Bus
You will be able to track your camper’s travel throughout their trip. Staff will be checking in with their GPS locator every 30 minutes or so for travel updates.
Leadership staff on the bus will contact the Leadership Camp Manager, if there are any serious delays in travel due to weather, emergencies, or other unforeseen situations. Parents will be notified if there is any emergency involving the bus. Head counts of campers and staff are taken many times during stops.
All campers are required to follow the guidelines and rules explained by the bus driver for the charter bus company and implemented by the Leadership Camp staff.
Quest Colorado check-out will be at The Hope Center, 2001 Plano Pkwy, Plano, TX on Tuesday. We ask that parents arrive no earlier than 5:00 PM, the doors will open for the Closing Ceremony at 5:30. When you arrive, Sky Ranch staff will direct you to luggage pick-up and parking. Our short program will begin at 6:00 as we honor your camper for completion of the Quest Experience. We will also give details about Sigma, the next step in Phase 2 of the Sky Ranch Life Map.
Sigma Junior check-out will be part of the traditional 10:45 Closing Ceremony in Van, TX on the second Saturday. Campers will have the unique opportunity of being recognized on the stage as a few Sigmas share their experience. Please arrive early to retrieve your camper’s luggage from the luggage pick-up area. After parking, please proceed directly to the express check-out tables arranged by cabin number in front of the Legacy Center. Here you will present your photo ID and receive your Authorized Release Form for your camper.
Sigma Senior campers will be honored with a Sigma Senior Brunch to celebrate your camper’s completion of the Sigma Experience! Please arrive at 8:00 AM, you will be directed to luggage pick-up and then parking. The brunch will begin at 8:30 AM and will be served for Sigma Senior campers and families at the Oak Haven Dining Hall. The closing ceremony will follow at 9:00 at Oak Haven.

- 8:30 am: Young Riders and Sky Fillies exhibition rodeo at our Champions Rodeo Arena
- 8:30 am: Front gate opens for luggage retrieval
- 8:30 am: Sigma Senior Brunch and Closing Ceremony
- 9:30 am: Sky 1, Sky 2
- 10:30 am: Sky 3, Sky 4, Morph, Quest, Sigma Junior, Young Riders, Sky Fillies
- 5:00 pm: Check-out begins at the Hope Center
- 5:30 pm: Doors for closing show open
- 6:00 pm: Quest Colorado closing show
Camper Check-Out Policy
Before you pick up your child, you will be required to show your driver’s license to their counselor and provide a signature on the check-out form. Campers will not be released to an individual for any reason without following the check-out policy. You may authorize additional people to pick up your camper in your online account under Additional Questions. We cannot release a camper to any person who is not on this list provided by you.
