How to Apply

Applying at Sky Ranch is the first step in the process of becoming a summer staff. The application is an online form that requires you to fill it out entirely in one sitting. In efforts to keep this process as easy as possible, we have made the application as short and simple as we could and still gather the information needed to do preliminary evaluations.

Overnight Cabin Counselors

A cabin counselor is at the heart of what we do. The direct ministry to our amazing campers is carried out primarily through this role; living 24 hours a day with your campers. By living with the campers, participating in every activity with your cabin, teaching bible studies every day, and just being a real life hero to these kids – you will invest in their lives and be a voice of truth. Counselors must be between the ages of 18-25 and have completed at least one year of college.  (College Staff ONLY)

Wranglers

This ministry position involves serving campers through multiple horsemanship activities. Wranglers are expected to love campers well. Some experience with horses is needed but not required. Wranglers are responsible for the safety of the campers, and also for the care of the horses and managing of facilities. Half and Full summer positions are available. (College Staff ONLY)

Activities Team-aka-The A-Team

This ministry position requires a love for the outdoors, a love for kids of all ages, and a deep passion to serve others. An A-team member must have a desire to learn how to manage, facilitate, and maintain activities. A-Team members will have a ropes course training or lifeguard certification provided by Sky Ranch during staff training. Only full summer applications accepted. (College Staff ONLY)

Lifeguards

Lifeguards need a desire to keep campers safe, and a love for the outdoors and hot summer days. Lifeguards will oversee safety at our pools and lakefront, and help out at night events each evening. Lifeguards will be trained on specific activities and need to obtain certification prior to the summer. Half-summer and full summer applications are accepted. (College Staff and High Schoolers 16+ years old)

Guest Services Assistants

This ministry position is a hands-on customer service position working with camper parents, campers, and staff providing exceptional customer service and hospitality in a fast-paced environment. You must be flexible, able to multi-task, and have a heart to work behind the scenes in order to make camp run smoothly. You will work in an office environment for most of the day and will hang out with kids in the evenings by helping with our awesome night events. Full summer positions only. (College Staff ONLY)

Health Care Assistants

This ministry position involves serving in the camp health center. Health Care Assistants will provide help to the RN’s, as well as manage the overall flow of the health center. Applicants do not need medical experience, but must have an interest in the medical field and be 21 years of age by summertime. Health Care Assistants will gain close to 600 hours of patient contact experience. Only full summer applications accepted. (College Staff ONLY)

Photographer

This ministry position requires a love for detail and photography. You will take individual and cabin pictures for each camper and cabin weekly. This position requires a person who has good experience with digital cameras and photo editing software. Only full summer applications accepted. (College Staff ONLY)

Videographers

This ministry position requires a love for media and a fast paced camp environment. You will capture, edit, and produce several individual videos for each one-week term during the summer that will be played for the parents and given to each camper! Only full summer applications accepted. (College Staff ONLY)

Retail Staff

Our retail staff will work in our famous Café Sky making milkshakes, selling our camp store merchandise, organizing and helping out in our retail department, and being a joyful face for all campers and parents as they serve. Half and Full summer positions are available. (College Staff ONLY)

Camp Works

This ministry position requires a desire to serve campers, staff, and parents in a behind the scenes role through the management of summer camp details. (ex. Camper mail, daily camp photos, lost and found, etc.) Successful camp works staff find joy in organizing, planning, and being flexible to serve to unknown camp needs. Only full summer applications accepted. (College Staff ONLY)

Maintenance Team

Our maintenance team are the caretakers of our camp facilities and helps make sure camp runs smoothly and that things look great! Each day can look a little different – mowing, cleaning, setting-up, watering flowers, building things, having trash duty, etc. If you are flexible, servant hearted, and interested in working alongside other people to serve the Lord– maintenance may be your place. Half summer and full summer applications are accepted. (College Staff and High Schoolers 16+ years old)

You are the “hands” of camp as you prepare all meals for camp each day. You will cook, serve, and even help clean up daily after meals. This is a great opportunity to serve and requires someone who is hard working, loves kids, is patient, and has a heart to serve as Christ did. Only full summer applications accepted. (College Staff ONLY)

Family Camp & Retreat Staff

Family Camp & Retreat staff will serve not only families but also church groups as they come to play in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. You get to serve and love families on specific weeks – running activities for them, programming night events, taking care of kids’ ages 2 months to 18 years old, and just being Christ to our family camp families or working alongside retreat groups who use Horn Creek to invest in their groups’ lives. This team works to ensure campers and families have clean and welcoming places all over camp. They will work daily to clean bathrooms, help with trash, and lead in cleaning guest rooms with all of the rest of the staff. You get to serve and love families every week – running activities for them, programming night events, taking care of kids ages 2 months to 18 years old, and being a camp counselor to an individual family. Wilderness Guides

This is a frontline ministry position that requires staff to provide 24/7 supervision and ministry to campers. We are looking for those with a heart for ministry and an openness to learn about backpacking. Guides must be able to pass a 2 mile timed run (men - 16 minutes; women - 18 minutes), a 5 mile endurance run at 8500 ft, able to carry 40-60lb backpack, be capable of hiking on rough terrain, and be comfortable in temperatures ranging from 10-95 degrees Fahrenheit. We ask for a two-year commitment for Guide positions. Only full summer applications accepted. (College Staff ONLY)

Programs & Operations Staff-aka-POPS

This ministry position requires a love for the outdoors, a love for kids and adults, and a deep passion to serve others. A POPS staff will facilitate night events, team building, run ropes activities, serve in the dining hall, etc. In other words, they do a little bit of everything to ensure that camp runs smoothly for our guests. Only full summer applications accepted. (College Staff ONLY)

Day Camp Counselors

Throughout the DFW and Tyler, TX area Sky Ranch programs day camps for campers ages 5-11 at local churches and schools. This ministry position requires a desire to work with campers and be able to relate to kids, parents, and co-counselors. Counselors will participate in and facilitate activities and will also lead Bible studies. (College Staff and High Schoolers 16+ years old)

High school students are welcome to apply starting in November, but interviews will not be conducted until late December. We will be in the DFW area for face-to-face interviews or counducting interviews by phone.
