Wow! It has already been nine weeks since I packed up and moved to Sky Ranch from Corpus Christi- time sure has flown by since August 17th! It has been a journey thus far, and I am excited to be able to share my story with you all. Before last May, I had never heard of Sky Ranch, so it definitely was a case of moving to a completely foreign place. When I interviewed, I actually began to doubt that this was where God was leading me. I began to fall into the complacency that many Jesus followers fall into: namely the idea that comfort is what we should seek. I began to worry about how much work this Fellowship would entail and less about what God would do in my life as a result of humbly following Him. But God continued to make it abundantly clear to me that this is where He wanted me. And that, my friends, is how I am here.
I titled this post “Where God Guides, God Provides,” because that is what He has been repeatedly showing me. God provided me with this amazing job, thirteen other awesome Fellows, a gracious, kind, and Christ-loving staff who seek to glorify God in all that they do; and these are just a few of the great things that He has provided. God knows my needs, both emotionally and spiritually and He meets them all!
I remember when I went through four weeks of training – the struggle to want to keep doing my job was so real! But God provided the strength I needed to make it through all the training. When I was introduced to the Outdoor Education side of Sky Ranch and what we were required to teach, I felt so overwhelmed. Again, God provided the strength and peace necessary for me to continue. Now it seems like teaching youngsters is second nature to me – plus, I get to work on my acting skills and my accents! It is very funny to look back now and see how stressed I was. Jesus has helped me to overcome my anxiety and fear with this job, and I am so thankful to Him for that!
In closing, I want reiterate God’s provision by sharing a verse that has blessed and encouraged me over the last two months. Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” To think that the apostle Paul was writing this during a time in his own life where he faced persecution and hunger and pain all for the sake of the Gospel. The truth is applicable to us all, but especially to me over the last two months. My prayer is that God may continue to supply my needs and the needs of all who believe in Jesus, the Son of God. Amen.
What has the Lord taught me? I imagine most people ask one of these two questions when it concerns the fellowship. “What is the fellowship like?” or “What do you do in the fellowship?”. Well, I can tell you that …
Zip On “Take me down! Take me down! Take me down!” the fifth grader screamed at the top of the ziplines. He, and many others before him, were paralyzed with fear at the idea of jumping off the platform and zipping …
