Hi everyone! My name is Lynette Benson and I am a Legacy X Fellow! I am from Forest Lake, Minnesota and went to school in La Crosse, WI at Viterbo University where I majored in Sports Management and Leadership and then received my M.B.A. After I finished school, I was searching for my next step in life, looking for something new. My older sister, Ashley Benson, was part of the Legacy V Fellowship and it changed her life. I decided that I wanted that, not the same experience she had, but to follow God and His plans instead of my own. Never would I have thought that I would be doing the Fellowship, but I love it.
I love that I have the opportunity to learn about and help with every department at Sky Ranch! We are fortunate that this year we not only get to work with OE and Retreats during the school year, but we also work with any department that needs help with projects. It is amazing to see how helping someone with a simple task can make their job and day that much easier.
All fourteen of us Fellows love to serve and are passionate about growing in Christ. I am excited to see how close we will grow alongside one another and how our friendships continue over the years after the Fellowship. After graduate school I really wanted to learn how to balance my work and my faith, and Sky Ranch is giving me the opportunity to learn just that. These past eight weeks have been life changing already. In school they prepared me for a harsh business world, with many people that will lack moral ethics, but coming to Sky Ranch I have met only servant leaders.
With good times, there are also hard times. My family and friends mean a lot to me, and when I moved down here it was hard to say goodbye to them. Fortunately, all of them were super supportive and continue to encourage me whenever I call or Skype them. Also, by moving down here I am able to see my sister more often! Working at Sky Ranch has made me realize that I am not at the place where I need to be in my relationship with God. I thought I was a lot closer with Him than I actually am; this experience is giving me an opportunity to grow in my relationship and mend that gap.
Overall the experience has been wonderful, and I feel so blessed to simply be here. I am looking forward to what God has planned for me and learning new things each day! I love that everyday at Sky Ranch is different. I am a strong extrovert, and Sky Ranch definitely knows how to bring that out in me! Before working here, all I knew about Sky Ranch was that it was a huge camp my sister used to work for. But by living and working here, I realize that Sky Ranch is a home, a place to worship the Lord, and a community.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
What has the Lord taught me? I imagine most people ask one of these two questions when it concerns the fellowship. “What is the fellowship like?” or “What do you do in the fellowship?”. Well, I can tell you that …
Zip On “Take me down! Take me down! Take me down!” the fifth grader screamed at the top of the ziplines. He, and many others before him, were paralyzed with fear at the idea of jumping off the platform and zipping …
